Mixed frag of zoa morphs

Care...

Zoanthids (Zoas) are colorful, hardy soft corals that are generally easy to care for, making them a great choice for beginner and experienced reef keepers.

  • Lighting: Low to moderate; most prefer moderate lighting. Acclimate slowly to stronger light.
  • Water Flow: Moderate, indirect flow. Enough to keep debris from settling without causing the polyps to stay closed.
  • Placement: Lower to middle areas of the tank are a good starting point. Adjust based on the coral's response.
  • Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic and do not require regular feeding. Occasional small coral foods may encourage growth.
  • Temperature: 75–80°F
  • Salinity: 1.024–1.026 specific gravity
  • Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
  • Calcium: 400–450 ppm
  • Magnesium: 1,250–1,400 ppm
  • Nutrients: Prefer some measurable nitrate and phosphate; ultra-low nutrients can cause poor coloration or growth.
  • Growth: Moderate to fast. Zoanthids can spread rapidly across nearby rockwork.
  • Care Level: Easy
  • Important Safety Note: Some zoanthids can contain palytoxin, a potentially dangerous toxin. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling or fragging them, avoid touching your face, and never boil or expose zoanthid-covered rock to high heat.
