Ricordea Yuma Mushroom Care Summary
Lighting: Low to moderate. Yumas generally prefer gentler lighting than many other corals. Start them in lower light and acclimate slowly.
Flow: Low to moderate, indirect flow. Avoid strong, direct flow that causes the mushroom to fold up or stay contracted.
Placement: Lower areas of the tank are usually best. Rockwork or the sandbed works well, especially when first introduced.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 76–80°F
- Salinity: 1.025–1.026
- Alkalinity: 8–9 dKH
- Calcium: 400–450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250–1400 ppm
- Nitrate: ~2–15 ppm
- Phosphate: ~0.03–0.10 ppm
Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic, but occasional small meaty foods can encourage growth. Feeding is optional.
Difficulty: Moderate. Ricordea yuma can be more sensitive than many common mushrooms, particularly to sudden increases in light or changes in water chemistry.
Key Tip: Stability is important. If a Yuma is fully expanded and looks healthy, avoid constantly moving it or changing its conditions.
