Copepods are tiny, beneficial crustaceans that play a huge role in a healthy reef tank and are essential for building a strong foundation in your reef. They provide a natural, nutrient-rich food source for fish, corals, and filter feeders while helping maintain a balanced ecosystem. Copepods assist in breaking down detritus and excess nutrients, supporting overall tank stability and biodiversity. Regularly adding copepods helps establish a thriving microfauna population, improves coral polyp extension, and supports pod-dependent fish such as mandarins, blennies, seahorses, pipe fish and wrasses.

Your copepods have been shipped pre-gut loaded with 100% organic spirulina powder. This will not harm your tank in any way and it is safe to put into your water column. Your pods have been through a long ride to get to you, and it is a good idea to give them a quick shake and crack open the cap to let them get some fresh air as they sit at room temperature to regulate after shipping. We suggest adding your Pods 30 minutes after the lights have gone out in your tank. If you are using them to try to seed a system, it is good practice to split the bottle by putting half into your display and half into the refugium area of your system. If you do not have a refugium just pour the whole bottle into your display area right away. If you are buying Pods to use strictly as a food source add the whole bottle at one time to the display area. Our house Copepod Blend has 5 species of pods in one bottle all of which regularly coexist and breed readily in a home system. If you have purchased Tigger pods, they will live in your system but will not readily breed in it, these larger Pods are generally used to boost the live food sources in a tank.
