The Saltwater Feather Duster is a fascinating filter-feeding worm that adds both movement and beauty to a reef aquarium. Its soft, tube-shaped body stays hidden while its feathery crown of radioles extends outward, creating a fan-like display used to catch plankton and other tiny food particles from the water.
Feather Dusters are peaceful and reef-safe, making them a great addition to community tanks. They don’t move around like crabs or shrimp but instead anchor themselves in rockwork or the sand. While hardy, they do best in well-established aquariums with plenty of microplankton or when given supplemental filter-feeder foods. If startled, they can quickly retract their crown into their tube, and if stressed for long periods, may shed it before regrowing.
